keeping that nugget safe

this is why i love being pregnant: right now i feel like a good mom! baby is all warm and comfy in there, and i can protect her. we have this amazing connection that we'll never have again, and being a woman i feel honored to have this experience.

what scares me to death: someday (soon) baby will be an outside baby...and i wont be able to protect her like i can now. scary stuff.

two nights ago i had a contraction that woke me up at about 5am. and i KNEW this was a contraction. i mean...you just know. i laid in bed in complete fear and terror that they would continue and i would go into a very real labor that the doctors would be unable to stop and my 31 week old baby would be in the NICU for months. um, yeah...it's completely normal for mommies to  have contractions for WEEKS before they go into actual labor. deep breaths...i didn't have another one, just missed out on three hours of sleep and proceeded to have the weepiest day ever.

so last night jamie and i did the natural thing for pregnant parents to do, and played some music for the little one to lullaby her to sleep (she wasn't going to sleep anytime soon). i can't believe we hadn't done this sooner...

please excuse my busted face...i had just finished crying because of reasons mentioned above. it was an emotional day, okay people?? but jamie knows how to make me feel better.

baby's first song? paul simon's "born at the right time". keep baking in there, nugget!

  1. This picture is my favorite thing in the entire universe! I want to make it my background on my computer and you can't do anything about it :)

Sorry you had a scary night but you're doing a wonderful job keeping the little one safe... and you guys will be the best, most fun and loving parents any baby has ever had, so don't even worry about it.

Sorry for my rambling message last night - I'll give you a call today or Saturday!! Love you guys.

  3. Ahh I love this!! I just caught up on all your blog posts since Mat and I have been gone! Ahh I can't wait to get to Tahoe back and see you! The pic with the headphones is amazing (and I never would've known that you looked like you had been crying)...can we play her some 80s music when I get back?? Also, LOVE the additions to the room - great work. Love you & see you soon! xoxo
